On 29th June, AB6IX finally graced London with their presence and it was LENG!!! (IYKYK)

Debuting in 2019 with Breathe, the AB6IX boys have been burning up stage after stage, and despite a few setbacks here and there, they still maintain a strong bond between them and their fans (ABNEW). This concert was no different. Members Woojin, Daehwi, Donghyun and Woong, took to the stage at The Dome London to wow new and old fans alike. Opening the night with ‘Traveler', a fun and upbeat vibe, AB6IX managed to get the crowd hyped up, and although it was my first time hearing the song, I was right there vibing with everyone.

After a few more songs, AB6IX took some time to introduce themselves and interact with fans. I was quite surprised to hear them say they had just arrived in the UK that very same day. Talk about professionalism. You could tell they were really excited to be in the UK for the first time. Given that their last attempts to perform here were marred in controversy, non their own (gotta blame KpopFlex and subsidiaries for that), it was amazing to finally see them perform live in the UK. They talked about wanting to see the sights but, unfortunately, due to having arrived that day, they didn’t have a chance to look around. Daehwi added that one of the members really has a thing for British buildings, (something about them radiating a certain vibe, think Bridgerton) which garnered laughter from the fans.

Following a quick outfit change, AB6IX went on to perform some of their more heavy hitting songs like ‘Red Up’ and ‘Savior’. You could definitely see that they had loosened up and were fully having fun on stage as they performed. I definitely gained a new-found respect for the group during this time as they were absolutely spectacular. With clear vibrant vocals from Daehwi, Woong and Donghyun, and killer rapping from Woojin, they managed to set the stage ablaze. They definitely had the crowd singing along as they performed on stage. The members even took some time as they performed to interact and take videos with fans.

Following this, the members announced that we were slowly nearing the end of the concert (hella sus, but we let it slide). They proceeded to ask fans what songs they would have liked to hear, and of course the very first song fans mentioned was ‘Breathe’, which the members sang acapella for the fans, with Daehwi noting that they should have added it to their setlist, as it had been asked for on every stop they had done so far (I agree. Lord knows I was ready to bop to Breathe). Another popular request was ‘Cherry’, which unfortunately the members struggled a tad to remember its lyrics. But fret not, the fans had them covered as they sang the song while Woong did the choreography. A very funny, yet touching moment. Seeing the fans sing to the members as they did their best to remember the lyrics was definitely one of my top 5 moments of the concert (don’t ask me about the remaining 4 lol). After singing the audience’s requests, AB6IX went on to wave, say their goodbyes, and left the stage. Now as seasoned K-pop fans, we all knew that this was nothing more than a ruse, a fake out if you will. And what do you know, we were right.

AB6IX once again appeared on stage, in their final outfit change of the night to perform the encore part of their setlist. The members let loose and had fun singing heart warming songs like ‘Merry-Go-Round’ and ‘Chance’. Sidenote, ‘Chance’ had to be my favorite song of the night. The harmonies touched my soul. Best believe the song ended up on my spotify playlist immediately. Anyway, the members brought the night to a close by having a final chat with the fans as they brought out a British flag with messages to the group, gifted to them by fans. They also shared a new British slang word, ‘LENG’, that they had learnt from fans. Safe to say, they had a fun time using this word, albeit slightly different to its actual meaning, but endearing nonetheless. All in all, I would say the concert was an amazing experience. Seeing AB6IX and ABNEW interact and have fun was heartwarming and I definitely hope to see them again in the UK soon. In the words of Daehwi, “AB6IX LENG!”
